Chandrababu to kick-start campaign from Tirupathi Thursday, March 11 2004 19:18 Hrs (IST) Tirupathi:
The caretaker Chief Minister and Telugu Desam Party (TDP) supremo N Chandrababu Naidu will kick start his election campaign with the poll plank of "development" from this famous temple town tomorrow (Mar 12, 2004) evening.
The venue, Sri Venkateswara University Stadium and all routes leading to the stadium in Tirupati have been bedecked with TDP flags, banners, wall posters and huge cut outs of late NTR, as well as Chandrababu Naidu.
Naidu's Tirupathi election programme, called the "Ennikala Shankaravam" (blowing of conch shell for the ballot battle) would attract about two lakh people from different parts of the district, ministers and party senior leaders B Gopala Krishna Reddy and Dr K Sivaprasad Rao told reporters.
After seeking the blessings at the Lord Venkateswara temple at Tirumala, Naidu would lead a huge rally from the TTD bypass road circle to the venue in the afternoon, they added.
Keeping in mind the naxal attack on him on October 1, unprecedented security arrangements have been made at Tirumala and Tirupathi.
