New Delhi: Rajesh Ranjan alias Pappu Yadav, an independent MP from Bihar, was tonight (Mar 12, 2004) arrested by Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) hours after the Supreme Court cancelled the bail granted to him in the case pertaining to murder of trade union leader Ajit Sarkar.

CBI sources said Ranjan would be presented before a magistrate tomorrow for remand.

They, however, said CBI would like him to be examined by a panel of doctors.

The apex court while cancelling his bail directed CBI to take him into custody immediately.

Soon after the court's order, Yadav got himself admitted to All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) ostensibly for a ruptured artery in one of his legs.
