76 juvenile delinquents escape in Bihar, 11 nabbed
Saturday, March 13 2004 11:32 Hrs (IST)

Patna: Seventy-six juvenile delinquents have escaped from a remand home in Patna city, Senior Superintendent of Police Nayar Hasnain Khan said today (Mar 13, 2004).

The delinquents snatched the keys from the caretaker of the remand home and fled away under the cover of darkness at around 11.30 pm last night (Mar 12, 2004), Khan said.

While 11 of the delinquents were soon nabbed by the police, intensive search continued for the rest, he said.

A section of policemen including four constables, two havaldars and a beat officer were placed under suspension, Khan said adding that connivance of remand home authorities was also not ruled out.

An inquiry has been ordered to look into the case, he said.

Senior officials including District Magistrate Deepak Prasad were camping at the spot.
