Cricket fever grips Hurriyat Conference too
Thursday, March 18 2004 19:28 Hrs (IST)

Srinagar: Even Hurriyat Conference is not immune to cricket fever!

Taking a holiday to watch the game between traditional rivals India and Pakistan at Peshwar tomorrow (March 18, 2004), the separatist amalgam has deferred by a day its meeting to discuss the invitation from the Centre for the second round of talks with Deputy Prime Minister L K Advani on March 27.

The joint session of Hurriyat's executive committee, general council and working committee, scheduled for Friday, would be now held on Saturday (March 20), its chairman Maulana Mohammad Abbas Ansari said.

"I am not a cricket buff but others (leaders) are definitely interested in the game. Looking at the public response to the first two games, I do not think there would be any serious business conducted tomorrow," Ansari said.
