Buddhadev Bhattacharjee escapes mishap unhurt Sunday, March 21 2004 14:02 Hrs (IST) Siliguri:
West Bengal Chief Minister Buddhadev Bhattacharjee escaped unhurt when a security car in his convoy met with a mishap and injured three policemen, two of them seriously near Darjeeling More, about three km from Siliguri today (Mar 21, 2004).
The mishap occurred when a cow suddenly strayed on to the road as the Chief Minister's convoy was passing and two constables tried to drive it away. The two policemen, who had rushed almost to the middle of the road, were hit by the security car, which was moving at a high speed, Darjeeling police superintendent Rajiv Mishra said.
An officer who was in the vehicle was also injured.
All the three injured policemen were admitted in North Bengal Medical College and Hospital (NBMCH) and Bhattacharjee inquired about them. He also asked the police and administration to take all care of them.
Bhattacharjee, who was on a two-day trip to Darjeeling district to attend a Communist Party of India-Marxist (CPM) party workers' meet in Siliguri, later left for Kolkata.
