1200 kgs of explosives recovered in Uttar Pradesh

Faizabad: Police recovered over 1200 kgs of explosives and 236 country-made bombs in Gonda and Faizabad districts of Uttar Pradesh and arrested three persons in this connection.

Acting on a tip-off, police raided some houses in Nawabganj market in Gonda district last night (Mar 20, 2004) and recovered six big and 230 small country-made bombs besides 11 kgs of explosives, Deputy Inspector General of Police V K Agarwal said. Two persons were arrested in this connection, he said.

On the basis of information provided by them, police raided a house in Chowk area in the wee hours today (Mar 21, 2004) and recovered 1200 kgs of explosives, Agarwal said.
