New Delhi: Two days before Deputy Prime Minister L K Advani meets Hurriyat Conference leaders in New Delhi, the coordination committee of the Government will meet on Thursday (Mar 25, 2004) to discuss issues to be deliberated upon at the second round of parleys.

The committee, headed by Centre's interlocutor on Jammu and Kashmir N N Vohra and comprising cabinet secretary C D Sahay, home secretary Anil Baijal and heads of intelligence agencies, will devise a strategy to be adopted at Saturday's (Mar 27, 2004) talks.

After the meeting, Vohra is likely to brief Advani before he interacts with the Hurriyat delegation led by Maulvi Abbas Ansari, official sources said.

While Hurriyat has spelt out that it would "seriously raise" the issue of alleged Human Rights violations by troops in Jammu and Kashmir and release of political prisoners during the upcoming parleys, the Government is said to be working to talk about the plight of displaced Kashmiri Pandit community.

Advani had raised the matter during the first round of talks with Hurriyat leaders on January 22 also and asked what the separatist conglomerate had done for their return to the valley and alleviate their plight.

Advani had reminded the Hurriyat leaders that Pandits, most of who had been forced out of the valley due to militancy in 1989, were part of any talks process.

"I told the Hurriyat leaders to see how Kashmiri Pandits are living in camps. Any decent person will not live in such conditions even for 10 days, although they have been living for more than 10 years," Advani had said.
