Poetess murder: Madhumani's bail plea rejected Friday, March 26 2004 16:02 Hrs (IST) Lucknow:
A special CBI (Central Bureau of Investigation) court today (Mar 26, 2004) rejected the bail application of Madhumani Tripathi, wife of former Uttar Pradesh Minister Amarmani Tripathi and an accused in the poetess Madhumita Shukla murder case.
Special judicial magistrate (CBI) Digvijay Nath rejected the bail application of Madhumani who had surrendered before the CBI court amid high drama yesterday (Mar 25, 2004).
Meanwhile, the court extended the judicial remand of four other accused in the case namely Amarmani Tripathi, Rohit Chaturvedi, Prakash Chand Pandey and Santosh Rai till April 8.
The accused who are in jail were presented before the court today.
A non-bailable arrest warrant was issued against Madhumani by the court in January this year after she failed to turn up before the CBI for questioning despite repeated notices.
There were reports that she had slipped to Nepal and from there to Singapore and Thailand.
