SAD waves black flags at Advani's yatra convoy
Friday, March 26 2004 12:09 Hrs (IST)

Medka (Punjab): A group of Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD)-Amritsar supporters led by Simranjeet Singh Mann today (Mar 26, 2004) staged a protest to disrupt Deputy Prime Minister L K Advani's Bharat Uday Yatra.

On the way to Amritsar from Pathankot, a group of supporters of Mann gathered at a Gurudwara where they tried to prevent the convoy from moving ahead but were stopped by the police.

Shouting anti-BJP (Bharatiya Janata Party) and anti-Advani slogans, the protestors also waived black flags at the convoy.

This was a picture in sharp contrast against a rousing reception Advani was given in Batala a short while ago.

In Batala, school kids dressed in traditional attire performing "giddha" and "Bhangra" had welcomed Advani. Mann's supporters had yesterday (Mar 25, 2004) also made attempts to disrupt the Yatra near Ludhiana.
