Mumbai serial blast accused arrested in Abu Dhabi

New Delhi: A Mumbai serial blast accused and close aide of underworld don Dawood Ibrahim, Tahir Mohammad Merchant, has been arrested in Abu Dhabi, the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) today (Mar 29, 2004) said.

Merchant, against whom a red corner notice had been issued by the Interpol, was arrested on Saturday (Mar 27, 2004), it said.

The Abu Dhabi police informed CBI about the arrests today and efforts were on for his extradition or deportation, the agency said.

Merchant was also wanted in connection with a fake currency smuggling racket, it said.
