Srinagar: Ruling People's Democratic Party (PDP) President Mehbooba Mufti today (Mar 29, 2004) escaped an attempt on her life as militants opened fire on her motorcade near Aishmuqam in South Kashmir's Anantnag district, official sources said in Srinagar.

The abortive bid was made on Mehbooba, when she was on a visit to Anantnag from where she is likely to contest the coming Lok Sabha elections.
