RJD manifesto is a heinous and cruel joke: Rajnath Friday, April 2 2004 15:36 Hrs (IST)
Patna:
Terming the election manifesto of Bihar's ruling RJD (Rashtriya Janata Dal) as a bundle of lies, the BJP (Bharatiya Janata Party) today (Apr 2, 2004) accused the Laloo-Rabri regime of having miserably failed to deliver.
The BJP said that the State had plunged into chaos due to sheer mis-governance, unemployment, poverty and lawlessness touching a new high and promised to bring an end to the incompetent and corrupt Government if the NDA (National Democratic Alliance) staged a comeback at the Centre.
''Complete lawlessness has gripped the State. Unemployment and poverty have touched a new high and no effective measures have been taken to arrest the spiralling crime graph, as abduction and murder have become the order of the day," the senior BJP leader and Union Agriculture Minister Rajnath Singh, who is also the BJP's general secretary in charge of Bihar, told a press conference.
The Union Information and Broadcasting Minister, Ravi Shankar Prasad, was also present.
''The person (Laloo) who has ruled the State by proxy for over 14 years is now talking about development in the manifesto. It is a heinous and cruel joke, Singh said.
Singh said that if the NDA returned to power, it would pave the way for bidding a farewell to the State Government. He, however, did not elaborate how NDA would pave the way for the exit of the Rabri Government when asked by newsmen.
