Two Veerappan cronies held by STF in Nagappa case Friday, April 2 2004 11:32 Hrs (IST) Coimbatore:
Two persons, who were said to have assisted forest brigand, Veerappan, in the abduction of former Karnataka Minister, H Nagappa, have been nabbed by STF (Special Task Force) last night (Apr 1, 2004) at Sathyamangalam in Erode district.
Based on intelligence reports, STF officials arrested the two, Kolanji and Muthukumar near Sathyamangalam bus stand, when they were moving under suspicious circumstances, STF sources said today (Apr 2, 2004).
The accused, reportedly the activists of Tamil Nadu Liberation Organisation, were natives of Cuddalore and were involved in various cases, including a burglary case at Mayiladuthurai, the sources said.
Both would be produced before the magistrate for remand and further investigations would be carried out, along with Karnataka STF, the sources said.
Nagappa was abducted by Veerappan on August 25, 2002 and his body was found in the forests in early December 2002.
