BJP's indecent remarks don't bother me, says Sonia Friday, April 2 2004 09:23 Hrs (IST) Solapur:
Congress president Sonia Gandhi today (Apr 2, 2004) said that the personal attack by BJP (Bharatiya Janata Party) and other parties on her family does not matter much but said that "more they do the more it helps her".
"Is this the only issue?" Sonia Gandhi asked about the constant attack on her foreign origin issue and the attack on her family members by BJP and its allies in the ongoing poll campaign.
Commenting on the reported statement of Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee at a public meeting at Dahanu yesterday (Apr 1, 2004) in which he stated that the Centre was planning to bring in legislation to ban persons of foreign origin from occupying highest positions, the Congress president said that, "even if the PM and his party leaders speak below the level of decency" it does not bother her.
"They have done this (attacks) with Indiraji and Rajivji but never succeeded to reduce the faith and love people had in them. I have full trust in people and their ability to exercise their right to select," she said.
