Jaguar crash: IAF rescue team finds one pilot's body
Saturday, April 3 2004 17:40 Hrs (IST)

New Delhi: The body of a pilot of one of the two Jaguars that crashed near Sonamarg in Jammu and Kashmir was today (Apr 3, 2004) found in the wreckage of the ill-fated warplane by an Army rescue team.

The team, which was dispatched to the site after helicopters located the wreckage but were unable to land due to harsh terrain, has also found the flight data recorder of the aircraft, an Indian Air Force (IAF) spokesman said.

It has now proceeded towards the crash site of the other Jaguar, located about a kilometre from the first, he said.

A court of inquiry has been initiated to probe the crashes, he said, adding that the name of the pilot would be given out only after his family has been informed.
