Film actresses Farah, Nagma to join Congress Sunday, April 4 2004 19:14 Hrs (IST)
New Delhi:
Film actresses Farah and Nagma are likely to join Congress amidst indication that Farah may contest from Meerut Lok Sabha constituency in Uttar Pradesh.
"The actresses have arrived here along with Maharashtra Minister of State for Home Affairs Kripa Shankar Singh and would be joining the party tomorrow," party sources said.
Farah is the daughter-in-law of Rajya Sabha MP and renowned wrestler-actor Dara Singh who joined Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) recently.
The actresses would be meeting Congress president Sonia Gandhi before announcing their decision, the sources said.
However, a senior party leader said Farah contesting from Meerut is only a proposal and it all depends on the party leadership whether they accept it or not.
Avtar Singh Bhadana, who represented the seat in the dissolved Lok Sabha, is understood to have sought a seat in Haryana.
