PM rubbishes Oppn talk of differences with Advani Monday, April 5 2004 18:55 Hrs (IST)
Lucknow:
Prime Minister Atal Behari Vajpayee today (April 5, 2004) rubbished Opposition talk of differences between him and Deputy Prime Minister L K Advani and said he would not have been in the post if Advani did not want him to be.
"Where is that (differences)?" he asked at an election rally here in which he welcomed Advani, now on his "Bharat Uday Yatra".
"When we embraced after I received him (at the rally), photographers said they did not get a good view and asked us to do it again. But how many times do we need to do this?" he asked.
Crediting Advani with making him the Prime Minister, he said, "If he did not want me, I would not have been holding this post and it was a collective decision to make me the Prime Minister."
On his relationship with Advani, he said, "Some people do not like it and ask what bonds us. It is our faith to take India to the heights of glory."
He also sought a decisive majority for Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) in the coming Lok Sabha polls to return him to power and said, "Do not give a divided mandate. Give a clear majority to BJP and you will get the Prime Minister you want."
