Pakistan defeats India to claim SAF football title
Tuesday, April 6 2004 10:16 Hrs (IST)

Islamabad: Pakistan defended the football title beating India 1-0 in the ninth SAF Games at the Jinnah stadium tonight (April 5, 2004).

The all-important goal was scored by Abdul Aziz in the 29th minute. Pakistan had won the title in 1989 at the same venue.

India clearly played without any plan in the whole of first half, whereas the Pakistanis were in the attack right from the beginning.

For the first 20 minutes of play, Indians showed signs of attacking, but a defense lapse in the 29th minute resulted in Pakistan go into the lead.
