Ayodhya temple construction will start from Oct: VHP Tuesday, April 6 2004 19:42 Hrs (IST)
Hubli (Karnataka):
VHP International General Secretary Praveenbhai Togadia today asserted that construction of a "Grand Temple" at Ayodhya for Lord Rama would start from October 2004 irrespective of whether the Central Government cleared all hurdles or not.
Speaking to reporters in Hubli, he said, VHP and Bajrang Dal would support any political party -- either Congress or BJP (Bharatiya Janata Party) or any other party -- which would accept a 12-point "Hindu Agenda" in the coming polls to Lok Sabha and State Assemblies.
Challenging Chief Minister S M Krishna to show one instance of law and order problem created as a result of his visit to the State, he said he had travelled the entire country and addressed 3,500 places and seventy lakh people in the past five years but nowhere was there law and order problem.
He said his lawyer is studying the recent Supreme Court judgement upholding the Karnataka Government order banning his entry into Chikkamagalur district in 2003.
He alleged that Congress Governments in the country were supporting "jehadis" for their survival in States and suppressing Hindus.
Answering a question, he said, "I am not bound by BJP policies or NDA (National Democratic Alliance) agenda".
To another Query he said, "Muslims of this country will never accept construction of Ram temple at Ayodhya."
He said three contentious issues of Kasi, Mathura and Ayodhya are on the VHP agenda.
He said VHP or Bajrang Dal were not interested in contesting Lok Sabha or Assembly seats. If at all any worker wants to contest, he will have to resign and contest, he said.
