Vajpayee wave sweeping across the country: Advani Wednesday, April 7 2004 18:15 Hrs (IST)
Gopalganj:
Deputy Prime Minister L K Advani today (April 7, 2004) claimed that the Vajpayee wave was sweeping the country and if the National Democratic Alliance (NDA) returned to power, it would ensure pucca roads, houses, drinking water facility and hospitals in all the six lakh villages in the country.
Addressing election meetings at Bathnakuti and Gopalganj, Advani, whose Bharat Uday Yatra entered Bihar from Uttar Pradesh this morning, said there is a "massive Vajpayee wave" sweeping across the country. This election will decide the direction for building up the country.
''If we return to power, there will not be a single out of the six lakh villages in the country where there will be dearth of drinking water, roads, pucca houses and hospitals,'' he said.
He said there was a keen contest between the two alliances (the NDA and the Congress) during this election in the country.
Hailing the decision to send Indian cricket team to play in Pakistan, Advani, in an apparent reference to the Congress, said, ''If somebody asks us who is captain of our cricket team we say Saurav Ganguly and likewise everyone knows who is our captain (Vajpayee) but when we ask them to clarify who is the team leader they say they will let us know after the elections.''
