10 policemen killed in landmine blast in Jharkhand

Ranchi: With the recovery of bodies of five more policemen, the toll in the landmine blast set off by naxalites near Gua in West Singhbhum district of Jharkhand has gone up to 10, an official said today (Apr 8, 2004).

More than 10 others were seriously injured in yesterday's (Apr 7, 2004) blast, Deputy Commissioner of West Singhbhum said.

Superintendent of Police (SP) Praveen Kumar, who was missing after the blast, was traced with serious injuries and was admitted to a nearby hospital, he said.

The SP was leading one of the two parties, which had gone for patrolling at Balibea, three km from Gua, when the incident occurred.
