Sayalee Bhagat named the new Miss India-World

Mumbai: Ending the controversy surrounding the prestigious beauty pageant, Sayalee Bhagat was today (Apr 8, 2004) adjudged first runner up of Femina Miss India contest and was crowned the Miss India-World title.

Sayalee replaces Laxmi Pandit, who relinquished her crown following controversy over her marital status.

Meanwhile, Jyoti Brahmin bagged Miss Earth title after Bhagat who held the Miss Earth title was crowned with the Miss India-World title.

Tanushree Datta, who was adjudged the winner of Femina Miss India contest, retains her Miss India-Universe title.
