People will reject BJP-JDU unholy alliance: Krishna
Friday, April 9 2004 13:02 Hrs (IST)

Chitradurga (Karnataka): Karnataka Chief Minister S M Krishna today (Apr 9, 2004) asserted that the people of the State would reject the "unholy" alliance between Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and Janata Dal-United (JD-U) in the coming elections.

The people of the State defeated National Democratic Alliance (NDA) in Karnataka in the last polls and at least this should have been an eye-opener for JD-U leaders who entered into an alliance with a reluctant BJP, he told reporters at Sirigere mutt in Chitradurga.

Krishna said if Ramakrishna Hegde had been alive, he would have rebelled against this kind of an alliance and opposed it tooth and nail.

Krishna asked JD-U leaders to recall the insult BJP had heaped on Hegde.

In the last election, the BJP and JD-U had struck a hurried poll pact in which BJP won 43 and the JD-U 19, together the parties won 62 seats.

JD-U, then the ruling party, contested 10 Parliamentary seats in the last polls, while this time BJP has given it four.
