PDP rally blast in Uri: Death toll reaches 11 Friday, April 9 2004 12:13 Hrs (IST)

Two more persons succumbed to injuries sustained in the attack on People's Democratic Party (PDP) rally at Uri in Baramulla district yesterday (Apr 8, 2004), taking the death toll to 11, official sources said.
Two persons, who were brought to Sher-e-Kashmir Institute of Medical Sciences, Soura, in critical condition for treatment, died this morning, the sources said.
Nine persons were killed when militants hurled a grenade at the PDP rally, near the line of control (LoC) in North Kashmir yesterday, organised to press for opening of Srinagar-Muzaffarabad road.
Sixty people, including two state Ministers Muzaffar Hussain Beigh and Ghulam Hassan Mir, were injured in the massive blast.
Most of the injured were shifted to hospitals where condition of several of them was stated to be critical.
The Ministers, who had received splinter injuries in their limbs, were discharged from hospital last night after treatment, officials said.
