Cops keep vigil at Coimbatore to restrict Togadia
Saturday, April 10 2004 11:36 Hrs (IST)

Coimbatore: Kerala police have posted a team headed by an inspector at the airport to keep track of VHP (Vishwa Hindu Parishad) leader Praveen Togadia whose entry into Thiruvananthapuram has been banned.

Suspecting that Togadia might arrive and try to cross over to Kerala via Palakkad, about 50 km from the city, the team of policemen are keeping a vigil at the airport.

Besides, policemen of Tamil Nadu in plainclothes have also been posted in the airport and railway stations, "just to watch his movement", police sources said.

"Though the State police cannot take any action against Togadia, we are only watching his movement," they said.

Thiruvananthapuram District Magistrate has banned the entry of Togadia, who is to address a "Hindu Rights Declaration" rally organised by the Hindu Aikya Vedi in the State capital today (Apr 10, 2004).
