Sunday, April 11 2004 20:08 Hrs (IST)

Rajkot/New Delhi: The Government has decided to order a CBI probe into leakage of question paper of CBSE pre-medical examination last night (Apr 10, 2004) even as the Board said it would announce tomorrow new dates for the test which was scheduled for today.

Union Human Resources Development Minister Murli Manohar Joshi told reporters in Rajkot that the CBI would investigate into CBSE pre-medical exam question paper leakage and details of the probe into the incident would be handed over to the investigating agency, which is already probing CAT paper leak last year.

CAT paper leak main accused Ranjit Don had, during interrogation, said the racket of exam paper leakage included the pre-medical test.

He said steps would be taken to prevent recurrence of such incidents.

CBSE Chairman Ashok Ganguly had said there were certain weak links like transport and storage of papers, which could have led to the leakage.

"Preliminary exam dates will be announced tomorrow", Pavnesh Kumar, Controller of Examinations of CBSE, told reporters in New Delhi. The dates would be intimated to newspapers television channels and students, he added.

A number of agitated students and their parents raised slogans and demonstrated outside CBSE headquarters in Delhi.

However, policemen, who were deployed in strength outside the CBSE headquarters, said there was no violence.
