BJP scared of pro-Congress wave: Rahul Gandhi Sunday, April 11 2004 15:54 Hrs (IST)
Amethi (UP):
Criticising Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) general secretary Pramod Mahajan for his remark regarding educational qualifications of members of Nehru-Gandhi family, Rahul Gandhi today (Apr 11, 2004) said it was reflective of BJP's growing frustration after witnessing the wave in favour of Congress.
"Mahajan should go to my college and find out my educational qualifications," Rahul said in reply to a question on the BJP leader's remark made yesterday (Apr 10, 2004) at an election rally in Jaunpur.
"The BJP knows that the Congress is going to come back to power," he said adding, "Scared by this scenario the BJP is indulging in attacks on my family."
Accusing the BJP of moral bankruptcy, Rahul said, "It (BJP) had now also lost faith in the judiciary."
Rahul, who launched his election campaign in the constituency on April 9, said that BJP was increasingly getting frustrated, as there was a wave in favour of the Congress in the country.
He termed the feel good factor being propagated by the BJP as "a drama".
"It is the BJP leaders and not the general public who are feeling good. Every section of the society is dissatisfied with the Government, yet the NDA (National Democratic Alliance) is feeling good. It is a drama whose end is very near," Rahul said.
Earlier, Rahul visited Amethi town and garlanded the statue of his father and former Prime Minister Rajiv Gandhi besides interacting with a cross-section of the people.
