Personal questions don't bother me: Sonia Gandhi
Sunday, April 11 2004 17:51 Hrs (IST)

Koderma (Jharkhand): In an obvious reference to Bofors and her foreign origin issues, Congress president Sonia Gandhi today (Apr 11, 2004) said she did not bother about personal questions raised by the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP).

Addressing an election rally at Jamua under Koderma Lok Sabha constituency, Gandhi said whenever she sought to raise issues related to the common people in Parliament, BJP leaders raised personal issues to cover up their "failures".

But, she said, raising personal questions did not have any affect on her.

Stating that the BJP had no role during the freedom struggle, Gandhi said the Congress had worked hard in nation building.

Attacking the BJP-led National Democratic Alliance (NDA) Government for its "failure" to keep its promises made during the last elections, she said an opportunity has come to the electorate and they should use it to remove the "corrupt" NDA Government.

When both the Governments at the Centre and in Jharkhand were led by the NDA, then did they fail to address the needs of the people, she asked.

Congress candidate Tilakdhari Singh is contesting from Koderma where the BJP has fielded former Chief Minister Babulal Marandi.
