Congress lacks strong leadership: Venkaiah Naidu Monday, April 12 2004 20:15 Hrs (IST)
Warangal:
Asserting that the National Democratic Alliance (NDA) would come back to power as "people across the country have accepted the leadership of Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee", the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) today (Apr 12, 2004) said Congress lacked "clarity" and "strong leadership".
Addressing an election meeting at Kakatiya Degree College ground in Warangal, BJP president M Venkaiah Naidu held the Congress responsible for the "underdevelopment" of the country.
"Congress is lagging behind in campaign as leaders lack confidence to approach the people," Naidu said.
"Though Congress is claiming to have secured the nuclear technology and telecom development, it was the NDA Government that went ahead with the nuclear tests and brought telecom revolution in the country. I am sure that the shape of the country will change entirely in the next five years under Vajpayee," the BJP president said.
Earlier, speaking to reporters, Naidu said BJP was clear over Telangana issue and the State unit had passed a resolution for the separate State. "However, it is yet to be considered by the party's leadership at Delhi, since it is not in the NDA agenda," he said.
The party's star campaigner and movie actress Vijaya Shanti also addressed the meeting.
