PM, Jaya to address joint election meeting in TN Monday, April 12 2004 14:24 Hrs (IST)
Chennai:
The Prime Minister A B Vajpayee and the All India Anna Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (AIADMK) supremo Jayalalithaa will address a joint election meeting on May 5.
The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) national secretary L Ganesan said that the Prime Ministers office (PMO) had confirmed date of the Prime Minister visit to the Tamil Nadu unit of the BJP.
He said that the Superstar Rajnikanth's decision to support the BJP in the Lok Sabha polls was taken at an "appropriate time" and thanked him for the support.
"This will enhance the winning prospects of the AIADMK-BJP combine," he said.
Referring to the Bofors issue, he said the Congress president Sonia Gandhi should prove her innocence on the matter. She should help the Indian police to find out the truth and help the surrender of Quattrochi, the main man in the deal, he said.
Coming heavily on Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (DMK) president M Karunanidhi for his criticism for inclusion of Ram temple issue in the NDA's (National Democratic Alliance) poll manifesto, he said manifesto had clearly stated that the solution for the issue could be found out only through a court verdict or through negotiations. Negotiations were at advanced stage, he claimed, adding that after the Lok Sabha polls the temple would come up at Ayodhya.
He said that the DMK Ministers in the Vajpayee Ministry did not resign on the Ayodhya issue. They had the quit only to align with the Congress, he alleged.
