We've never parted with land, nor will we: PM Monday, April 12 2004 22:03 Hrs (IST)
Khunti (Jharkhand):
Disagreeing with Pakistan President Pervez Musharraf for having said that a meaningful dialogue did not mean compromise on vital national interests in Kashmir and nuclear assets, Prime Minister A B Vajpayee today (Apr 12, 2004) said solutions could be brought about through peaceful means.
Stating that India had never compromised on its territorial integrity, the Prime Minister addressing an election meeting in Khunti said solutions could be brought about through peaceful means.
"We have started a linking process. We are linking rivers, roads and now we have started linking souls. Now we have kept aside guns and working through cricket," he said.
"I asked Pakistan what it had got through three wars. I said let us talk and Pakistan agreed to it," Vajpayee said adding, "We have never parted with land, nor will we."
Vajpayee said earlier too he had tried to initiate the peace process by visiting Lahore, "but it did not happen, because the environment was different then. However, things have changed now."
