'The horse is not dead', Naidu on Bofors issue Tuesday, April 13 2004 12:09 Hrs (IST)
Hyderabad:
Keeping the Bofors issue alive, Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) contends that "the horse is not dead" and many facts are yet to see the light of the day.
"The issue is not yet dead, it's alive and many questions are to be answered," BJP president M Venkaiah Naidu said today (Apr 13, 2004).
Rubbishing the reports that the story was planted and BJP inspired it, Naidu said, "It's known to everyone the relations we have with the newspaper which carried the story and the correspondent who filed it from Sweden."
Naidu refused to comment on the Supreme Court remarks on Gujarat Government in Best Bakery case. "I have no comments to make on the court remarks but I can only say that it's not fair for Opposition to demand the resignation of Chief Minister Narendra Modi," he said.
The BJP president was also evasive in his reply when asked to comment on Vishwa Hindu Parishad (VHP) leader Praveen Togadia's contention that Ram Mandir should be included in National Democratic Alliance (NDA) manifesto.
"It's his personal opinion and that of VHP," he said.
When asked if NDA will have a common agenda to fight the left wing extremism which has engulfed about ten States, Naidu said, "It's a State subject and the respective Governments will deal accordingly."
