'Why is the PM silent on SC censure of Modi Govt?' Wednesday, April 14 2004 20:21 Hrs (IST)
New Delhi:
Expressing surprise over the "silence" on the part of Prime Minister Atal Behari Vajpayee and Deputy Prime Minister L K Advani over the Supreme Court order in the Best Bakery case, Congress today (April 14, 2004) sought to know from Vajpayee what was his "Rajdharma" now.
"Modi's silence after the judgement is understandable. After all, Modi had treated many of these acts of omissions and commissions as his Gaurav and extolled their virtues in his Gaurav Yatra."
"But much more than Modi, the complete silence of Vajpayee and L K Advani is eloquent. It smacks of political dishonesty," party spokesman Abhishek Singhvi told reporters.
He said the nation would like to know from Vajpayee as to what was his "Rajdharma" now after the Supreme Court strictures against Modi Government in Gujarat.
"If the Prime Minister continues in his tongue-tied state, it would mean that there is no difference between his Rajdharma and that followed by Modi," he said.
Seeking dismissal and prosecution of Modi, another party spokesman Kapil Sibal had described him as a "criminal" who he said should be in jail in the light of Supreme Court's observation in the Best Bakery case.
