Thursday, April 15 2004 22:03 Hrs (IST)

New Delhi: The Government will not react to the separatist amalgam Hurriyat Conference's decision not to take part in the Lok Sabha polls, Deputy Prime Minister L K Advani said today (April 15, 2004).

"I know the Hurriyat is under a lot of pressure from several quarters. Though they have not called for a poll boycott, it amounts to the same thing. The Government will not react to their decision," Advani told a press conference to mark the conclusion of his "Bharat Uday Yatra".

He said talks with the umbrella organisation were likely to be resumed after the elections in May.

Advani declined to comment on the Congress allegation of a scam in the purchase of AK-47 rifles by the Union Home Ministry from a Bulgarian firm saying his Ministry has already given a statement in this regard.
