Nobel heist: Visva-Bharati official arrested
Thursday, April 15 2004 22:04 Hrs (IST)

Santiniketan: In a fresh development, police today (April 15, 2004) arrested Abhay Mohapatra, a garden superintendent of the Visva-Bharati's Udyan Bibhag (garden department), in connection with the break-in of the lock of the building, stated to have been done to divert sleuths' attention from the daring burglary in the Rabindra memorial museum.

With this, three arrests were made in the lock break case.

Police said that Mohapatra was earlier detained for interrogation after being named by two other arrested Sunil Dutta and Gopal Bagdi as "an instigator in the crime".

Both Dutta and Bagdi, arrested in the case, named three Visva-Bharati officials as having "instigated and provoked" them to break the lock.
