A day of goof-ups for the Prime Minister Friday, April 16 2004 22:47 Hrs (IST)
Korba (Chhattisgarh):
It was slip of tongue not once but many times by Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee today (April 16, 2004).
Addressing an election meeting, the Prime Minister asked the people to vote for Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) for the two Lok Sabha seats in Chhattisgarh, but immediately corrected that the State had 11 seats.
While introducing his niece and BJP candidate from Janjgir Lok Sabha constituency, he said people should vote for Karuna Vajpayee.
When told she was Karuna Shukla and not Vajpayee as was called before her marriage, the Prime Minister said, "I am sorry."
Vajpayee said Shukla was indeed a good worker. "See I have forgotten her name," he added and appealed to the people to elect her for the "Rajya Sabha".
However, he was once again prompted to rectify himself that the April 20 polls were for Lok Sabha and not Rajya Sabha.
At one point of time, Vajpayee referred to the Janjgir constituency as "Jehangir", but it went unnoticed.
