'BJP will take people to moon by special aircraft' Monday, April 19 2004 20:05 Hrs (IST)
Datia (MP):
Giving a new thrust to Bharatiya Janata Party's (BJP) 'feel good' campaign, senior party leader and Union Human Resource Development Minister Murli Manohar Joshi today (Apr 19, 2004) promised that people may soon be taken to the moon by special craft.
"So far people have been travelling by bus, train and aeroplane... Now the day is not far when we will take people on a tour to the moon by special craft," Joshi said at an election meeting in Datia.
Stating that poverty is no longer visible anywhere in the country, he said because of the "magic" performance of Vajpayee Government during the past six years, "every household is now able to feed its members properly".
Even rickshaw-pullers are now using mobile phones, he said adding, India is poised to transform itself into the one of the most advanced nations in the world by year 2020.
"No one is now hungry in India and we will not allow anyone to face hunger in the world," he said.
Referring to Congress, he said the party would be wiped out from the political scene and the Opposition did not have any effective leader acceptable by all.
