Tuesday, April 20 2004 09:53 Hrs (IST)

Jalandhar: The National Democratic Alliance (NDA) appeared set to return to power in the coming Lok Sabha elections and there seemed to be no alternative to it, former Prime Minister I K Gujral today (Apr 19, 2004) said.

"As per the current political situation and scene, it seems that NDA will again form the Government at the Centre as at the moment there is no alternative to NDA," Gujral said adding that coalition politics has come to stay in the country.

"Even Congress, which is responsible for pulling down coalition Government, has also understood the importation of coalition, which can be evident from the faction the party has entered into alliance with many political parties and even accepted the status of junior alliance partner in States where the party was having a strong mass base," he said.
