'NDA's foreign policy brought down India's image' Friday, April 23 2004 16:09 Hrs (IST)
Mumbai:
Criticising the National Democratic Alliance (NDA) Government's wrong foreign policy, Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) president Sharad Pawar today (Apr 23, 2004) said that it has brought down the country's image at international level.
"The NDA Government's wrong foreign policy has brought down the image of the country," he told an election rally at suburban Borivali.
"The country was once the leader of the non-aligned countries, but has now lost that position due to the wrong foreign policy of the NDA Government," Pawar told the rally organised for film star Govinda, who is contesting on Congress ticket from North Mumbai against Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) candidate and Union Minister Ram Naik.
Moreover, the NDA Government had done injustice to the people of Iraq by not supporting them during their need even when it had provided assistance to the country for fighting terrorism, the NCP chief said.
Also, the NDA Government's wrong economic policy has brought suffering to the farmers of the country, he added.
Film star-turned-politician Govinda, who also addressed the public, rendered in filmi-style some poems criticising the NDA Government.
He also attacked the Opposition leaders for criticising Congress president Sonia Gandhi.
"The NDA Government has not fulfilled any of the demands," Govinda said adding, there is no alternative than to bring the Congress and NCP back to power to solve the problems of the country.
