Friday, April 23 2004 22:06 Hrs (IST)

Mumbai: Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee today (Apr 23, 2004) accused the Congress of having a secret understanding with the Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) and said both the parties should clarify their position before the people.

Criticising the Congress for the opportunistic alliance with the NCP, Vajpayee said there is something fishy between the two.

"Daal mein kuch kala hain...pura daal hi kala hain," he said addressing a joint rally with Sena supremo Bal Thackeray at Shivaji Park in Mumbai tonight.

Ridiculing NCP alliance with Congress, he asked Sharad Pawar to specify his stance on the foreign origin issue of Congress chief Sonia Gandhi, which had resulted in a split in the Congress before 1999 Lok Sabha polls.

He said, "The foreign issue of Sonia Gandhi is a serious matter and it should be debated."
