'BJP has broken monopoly of single party rule'

Ranchi: The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) today (April 24, 2004) said it was able to break monopoly of a single party rule in the country and showed how coalition Government could run successfully.

Speaking at a press conference, the party's vice-president Bal Apte said earlier there had been monopoly of a single party. "But the BJP not only provided a stable Government during the last six years but also headed a coalition successfully."

Expressing confidence over National Democratic Alliance (NDA) coming back to power, Apte said the allies would continue to work together and ensure stability to accelerate development work.

Listing out development projects undertaken by the Vajpayee Government, Apte, who is here to monitor poll campaigning of his party, said BJP had been improving its position in States like Karnataka, Goa, Maharashtra and Bihar.

He also said the BJP has made its presence in the Northeast where peace process started during the Vajpayee regime.

Replying to a question on the increasing number of film stars joining politics, he said the industry had given some good politicians.
