Ayodhya must be resolved through talks: Sonia
Saturday, April 24 2004 21:37 Hrs (IST)

Faizabad: Congress president Sonia Gandhi today (Apr 24, 2004) said the vexed Ayodhya issue should be resolved either through dialogue among concerned parties or through court verdict.

Any dialogue among concerned parties to arrive at a peaceful settlement was welcome, she told an election rally in this pilgrimage town.

The temple issue should be resolved either through dialogue or through court verdict, Gandhi said.

The high moral character of Lord Rama was still relevant today, Gandhi said adding he fought against evil and did not hesitate to renounce the throne.

Some selfish elements were bent upon vitiating political atmosphere in the country, she said.

They were out to divide society on caste and religious lines to gain political mileage completely disregarding moral values in public life, Gandhi said.
