NDA will score triple century, says Venkaiah
Saturday, April 24 2004 19:49 Hrs (IST)

Thiruvananthapuram: Discounting the exit polls predicting a not-so-favourable verdict for the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP)-led alliance at the Centre, party president Venkaiah Naidu today (Apr 24, 2004) said National Democratic Alliance (NDA) would cross triple century in the coming Lok Sabha elections and that he believed only in polls and not exit polls.

"NDA will cross triple century and the BJP will score double century and it will be less than a century for the Congress," Naidu, who is in Thiruvananthapuram for the campaign of party candidates, told reporters.

He, however, said he was not for "banning or manning" exit polls. The Congress would start disintegrating after the elections, he said.

He said NDA and BJP were in a comfortable position and Vajpayee was going to be Prime Minister. The people of Kerala should realise that they were being deceived by the two fronts in the State. "If the left front and the ruling UDF want to defeat the BJP, why can't they come together? Pyar Kiya tho darna kya?" he asked.

Congress was suffering a dilemma about its agenda and alliances. "Mayawati says she will show her "maya" after the elections. Mulayam Singh Yadav follows suit. How can people believe the Congress and their attempts for coalition?"

Naidu said the Opposition campaign was not taking off as there was no clarity in their approach and only contradiction and confusion among them.
