Varun hints at contesting from Sultanpur next time

Sultanpur (UP): Recalling his family's "strong ties" with Sultanpur Lok Sabha constituency, Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) star campaigner and late Sanjay Gandhi's son Varun today (Apr 24, 2004) hinted at contesting from Sultanpur in the next Parliamentary elections.

Addressing an election rally in the town in support of BJP candidate Veena Pandey, Varun Gandhi said though he was seeking votes for her this time, he would seek votes for himself next time.

"My family has strong ties with the people of the constituency. My father had a vision for the development of the area. Next time I shall contest from here," he said.

Varun Gandhi arrived at the meeting barely 10 minutes before the scheduled end of the campaigning.
