One killed as Cong workers stab TDP activists in AP Monday, April 26 2004 10:31 Hrs (IST)

One person was killed and two others sustained injuries in group clashes between Telugu Desam Party (TDP) and Congress supporters near a polling booth at Pallam village in East Godavari district of Andhra Pradesh today (Apr 26, 2004), police said.
The trouble began over forming of queue before the commencement of polling at 7.00 hrs (IST), police said.
The argument turned into a clash in which activists of TDP and Congress pelted stones at each other. Later, some Congress workers stabbed P Srinu and Palladi Babji of TDP, in which Sriram of Congress was also injured.
Later, P Srinu succumbed to his injuries while the injured were admitted to a hospital, police said.
Police officials have rushed to the spot and brought the situation under control.
Polling, which was stopped for about an hour, began on a tense note.
