CBI official says Bilkis case accused threatened him

Ahmedabad: The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) today (April 27, 2004) told a court in Gujarat that some of 14 accused in the Bilkis Banu gangrape-cum-murder in post-Godhra communal riots had threatened its officials probing the case.

Investigating officer of the case K N Sinha filed an affidavit in a court in Dahaod district saying "some of the accused had threatened him" when the agency officials had gone to the Sabarmati Central Jail to photograph them as per the court's directives.

Among those in judicial custody in the case are three main accused Ramesh, Dinesh Nai and Naresh Modiya.
