Sonia not to campaign in Vajpayee's constituency Tuesday, April 27 2004 20:22 Hrs (IST)
New Delhi:
Congress president Sonia Gandhi has no plans to do electioneering in Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee's constituency - Lucknow.
"She has no programme to go to Lucknow for campaigning but she will visit the adjoining Mohanlalganj constituency," party spokesman S Jaipal Reddy told reporters in reply to a question.
Reena Chowdhary, who is seeking re-election from Mohanlalganj, had recently quit the Samajwadi Party and joined the Congress.
Congress may ask Priyanka Gandhi to campaign for the party in some parts of the country, party general secretary Ambika Soni told reporters.
"I think Priyanka Gandhi will be asked by the party to campaign in Madhya Pradesh, Rajasthan, Himachal Pradesh and Uttaranchal," she said, adding that her brother Rahul, who contested the polls from Amethi, would cover the rest of Uttar Pradesh.
