Mayawati rules out post-poll alliance with BJP Tuesday, April 27 2004 19:43 Hrs (IST)
Kanpur:
Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) president and former Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Mayawati today (April 27, 2004) said that her party would not have any political alliance with the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) in the future.
Addressing an election meeting at historic Phool Bagh grounds, Mayawati said that the BJP was trying to involve her falsely in the Taj heritage case and the Union Government had been trying to pressurise her.
She said that the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) had been asked to submit a report against her in the case within four months but it had not done so.
The BSP president said that Samajwadi Party may join the National Democratic Alliance (NDA) after the Lok Sabha polls as indicated by Prime Minister atal bihari vajpayee and NDA convenor George Fernandes.
Mayawati said that her party did not enter into an alliance with the Congress as it was following the dual policy of supporting Samajwadi Party Government in Uttar Pradesh and wanting to enter into a tie-up with her party.
