Incidents of electronic voting machines (EVM) being set on fire, malfunctioning of EVMs and electoral malpractices and clashes were main reasons for the EC to take the step.

Thirteen Lok Sabha constituencies and 104 Assembly segments went to polls in the second phase yesterday (Apr 26). In the first round on April 20, voting was held in 15 Lok Sabha and 120 Assembly constituencies.
