Court dismisses complaints against Dharmendra Wednesday, April 28 2004 16:57 Hrs (IST)
Indore:
A local court in Indore today 'dismissed' the complaint filed by two Congress leaders against the Bollywood actor and Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) candidate from Bikaner constituency, Dharmendra, on the issue of filing not correct information in the nomination papers about his alleged second marriage with actress-turned Rajya Sabha member Hema Malini.
The complaint was dismissed by the court of judicial magistrate first class, Narendra Jain on the ground of not providing the copies of nomination papers in support of the complaint.
Advocate Shailendra Dwivedi, who represented the Congress leaders Akthar Beg and K K Mishra, told reporters that the court has dismissed the complaint on the ground that the copies of the nomination papers were not present in support of the complaint and therefore, it could not be established that what information Dharmendra has hid in the nomination papers.
The Congress leaders submitted the copy of the purported 'nikahnama' of their marriage in support of their complaint and the court has also taken it on record and also its Hindi translation for deciding the case, Dwivedi said.
The complainants also demanded from the Election Commission to terminate the membership of Hema Malini from the Upper House on the similar grounds.
Dwivedi said the court has not commented anything on the nikahnama and added that he would be filing the revision petition shortly.
